Mixed Greens with Gorgonzola, Pears & Sweet-Spicy Pecans
Simple but with complex flavors, this salad is easy to put together but looks elegant. I serve it with a raspberry-walnut vinaigrette.
Mixed Green Salad with Gorgonzola, Pears and Sweet-Spicy Pecans:
(serves 4)
1 bag pre-washed mixed greens (or your preference)
Gorgonzola, chopped or crumbled into small cubes
Sweet-Spicy Pecans
Anjou pears, thinly sliced
Salt and Pepper to taste
Salad dressing
Directions:
Fan out pear slices around the plate, mound greens in the center. Top with Gorgonzola, pecans and season with salt and pepper. Dress lightly and serve.

Putting nuts in salads is a great idea. They add crunch, but are more interesting and nutritious than croutons. In addition to pecans, I've had good experiences with walnuts, almonds, and pepitas (pumpkin seeds).
That is a wonderful sounding salad!
Always an excellent combination, one of my favorite salads.
My mouth is watering.. love the combination of pears, gorgonzola & the sweet nuts - YUM! Also, very pretty presentation! =)
I got your comment about my Dad's sauce.. thank you so much =) And it's so true.. I mean the stuff we've grown up with, most of us don't think about not having it at some point.. so yes, getting those recipes and other lessons in is a lesson I've learned. =)
Thanks all!
Peabody - I always loved this salad but for some reason never made it at home...now it's my staple. :)
