Sauteed Asian Broccolini
This is a really fast side dish. It works with regular broccoli too, but I adore broccolini, also known as asparation, baby broccoli or tender stem. This would be great with any grilled or roasted meat, or with fish or tofu.
Asian Broccolini:
(serves 2)
8 oz broccolini, ends trimmed
1 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs fish sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp sesame seeds
1/2 tsp crushed red chili flakes (or to taste)
Olive oil (about 1 tsp)
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a saute pan over medium-high heat. Add broccolini to pan, toss to coat. Reduce heat to medium and pour over all other ingredients (that have already been mixed in a bowl) and saute until wilted and a sauce has formed. Serve immediately.

Sounds yummy even though I've never heard of them! hehe BUT I am all about the asparagus lately.. have been roasting it until it's crispy and eating them like french fries (sans ketchup) almost every night (I'd say it's an addiction at this point).
I'll keep my eyes open for the Broccolini - I'm always game to try new veggies. =)
Yum! This sounds sooo good! I will have to try it really soon! Like now!
I actually prefer broccolini to broccoli, Kirsten - this sounds wonderful!
This is the first time I've heard the term broccolini. Baby broccoli, right? This looks delicious!
I always like to try new veg, and I've been interested in trying broccolini lately, so your post could not have come at a better time. And what a nice looking recipe. Hungry already!
Hi Lisa and Kristen - if you can find Broccolini, you must try it!
Like Patricia, I actually prefer it to regular broccoli too. It is less sulpher-ish and the stem has a crispness that is great.
Thanks Laurie and Almost Veg!
I had broccolini for the first time at a Korean restaurant in Hawaii and I loved the taste. Needless to say I can't find it here in Florida, but will anxiously await it's arrival in florida markets!
Very effective material, thanks so much for this post.
Thankyou, this was absolutely delicious - my broccolini was picked about 10 minutes before cooking and resulted in a dish I could have eaten an entire plate of!! 11/10!
I made this last night with baby broccoli! obsessed, making it tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!
